"The Stairway to Heaven"

Oil, 36" x 24", 1996

This painting was inspired by Led Zeppelin's song "The Stairway to Heaven" from their untitled fourth album. I also mixed in a little bit of The Who's "Tommy." This is about someone who has just died and they are reaching out for help. The person is in the process of climbing the stairway and God is waiting for that person with open arms. The background was made using a cap from a cologne bottle.
